I have always had a passion for the underdog. Growing up a sports fan in Cleveland, one quickly learns what it means to be the underdog and to be the long shot. While rooted in competitive sports, my passion for the underdog has blossomed through many different aspects of my life, particularly working as a lawyer for injured people.

Representing injured people means constantly being pitted against insurance companies. While insurance companies look friendly and helpful in advertisements, the reality is they often do everything possible to avoid fairly and promptly paying claims brought by injured people. Insurance companies have unlimited resources and time to deny, delay and limit full and just compensation to injured people. My mindset is that I am fighting for the underdog against Big Insurance. And, the best way to beat Big Insurance is by being relentless.

As much as I enjoy the challenging and competitive nature of being a lawyer for people, the work is often rewarding in that it leads to new friendships. I make a point of getting to know the people I represent. I believe that every person has a story to tell, and the only way to adequately represent a person is by understanding their story. My commitment to the people I represent frequently results in former clients keeping in touch, long after their case is over.

I frequently take and win cases other lawyers do not want to take. Often, some cases can only be won by being relentless. In fact, numerous lawyers who have defended cases against me often end up referring cases to me – which I believe speaks to the way I represent injured people.

In addition to being involved with various legal organizations, I enjoy writing about recent developments in the law that are relevant to the people I represent. I have had articles published in the Trial Journal of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (Telling the Full Story:  Vanoosting and Klingelhoets and Polarizing Liability: The “Admitted Liability” Case)
